My name is Romana and I have been practising yoga for over twenty years. Initially drawn to asanas for the physical challenge, eventually discovering the wholesome world of yoga through pranayama and meditation. Yoga has become a vital tool for finding inner peace in this busy world.
Bala is a Sanskrit word meaning young, powerful, strength of mind, and child-like, among other things. Embracing the essence of bala, I share the transformative practice of yoga with both kids and adults, fostering strong bodies and a mindset of curiosity and inner balance.
Inspired to teach yoga more than a decade ago, I completed 350 hours of Yoga Teacher Training with Inspire Yoga and Wellbeing in 2023 and later, the Zenergy Kids Yoga Teacher Training, Foundation and Advanced, as well as Yoga Therapy Training for kids.
My mission is to cultivate self-belief and a strong sense of self in children through the practice of yoga. By providing them with tools to empower them to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, inner calm and strength. Through yoga, children can develop the skills needed to cope with stress and thrive in all areas of life.

Yoga and mindfulness at schools
With anxiety increasingly affecting children and adolescents, yoga offers a powerful way to foster calmness and balance, helping to alleviate and prevent stress. Through mindfulness practices, yoga teaches self-awareness, empowering children to regulate their emotions. It enhances focus and concentration, providing a holistic approach to well-being.
Yoga meets the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs of today’s children. Studies show that regular yoga practice improves both mental and physical health, making it a valuable addition to the school environment.
Mindfulness and movement-based learning encourage students to explore the connection between body and mind, improving self-awareness, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.
Whether your school is looking to introduce regular yoga classes or occasional incursions, I can create a tailored program that meets the unique needs of your students - both in content and session length. Let’s bring the benefits of yoga into your school community!
Adults yoga
Develop a stronger body and mind with Hatha yoga classes that will allow you to slow down and focus on yourself. We hold postures for a few rounds of breath to improve the whole body strength, balance and flexibility. Feel recharged and more connected to yourself through mindfulness practices and breathing exercises. Options are offered throughout the class allowing you to choose more beginner or advanced practice to suit your needs.
Each week focuses on stretching and strengthening different parts of the body, alongside breathing exercises to enhance your well-being. And you will love the relaxation part the most!
Every Wednesday at 6:45 - 7:45 pm at Hawkins Hall, Thornleigh.
Testimonials
"My daughter found ways to release stress"
I truly feel that it was a wonderful decision for my 10-year-old daughter to start attending Romana’s yoga classes. My daughter has a busy schedule filled with school, tutoring, and studying, and I hoped that yoga would help her release some of her stress. She has always found it difficult to express her emotions and tends to hold a lot inside, often struggling with self-confidence. We even tried counseling in the past, but unfortunately, it didn’t help at all.
However, ever since she started going to Romana’s classes, it’s clear to me that she is slowly but surely growing...
"She always comes out with a smile on her face"
My daughter has been attending the Yoga for Teens, weekly sessions, with Romana of Bala Yoga, since the beginning of this year.
Romana is an outstanding, kind and thoughtful yoga teacher who makes her students feel welcome and respected during the classes. Whilst including a variety of challenging poses and activities, her sessions are always fun and enjoyable (for all students). She has taught my daughter many useful techniques on how to relieve stress, how to improve memory and how to remain calm and focused. She always ensures that her students thrive to achieve their personal best and sets a wide range of opportunities for them....
